Background
Deniyaya is a mountainous plantation terrain located in Southern Sri Lanka. The locals’ main livelihood is based on tea plantations. Many of them work as laborers in these plantations.
The plantation workers are considered to be the most vulnerable group of people due to their unprivileged civic status. The British had brought these workers to Sri Lanka from India about 200 years back and still these laborers live as a minority in the country and are often being overlooked by the authorities. Hence they are threatened both financially and socially, from minimum daily wages to limited access to facilities.
To promote free expression and introduction of art therapy.
